Passive fire protection for steel modules

Through Helge Jamne, a long-standing WIWA business contact, we learned that a system was being sought in Norway to coat offshore steel modules. Specifically, it was Chartek 7 E from material manufacturer AkzoNobel, a 2K intumescent fire protection coating system based on epoxy resin. The material's solids content is 100% and it requires no mesh.
Just new to the market at the time, we sent our WIWA FLEXIMIX GX PFP into field testing for the project, together with a specially optimized, 300 gram lighter WIWA 500 F gun with swivel joint. The field test was extremely successful, with the continuous control of all important parameters and the associated process reliability being particularly positively evaluated.
From the beginning of March until April 2023, the team coated a total area of 4000 m2 on site, applying around 50 tons of material.
