Bonding superstructures for yachts

A Greifswald-based manufacturer for yachts who was looking for a new system for gluing tasks became aware of WIWA online in February 2020. His previous unit was not only getting on in years. Over time, fewer and fewer spare parts had also been available. Through one of our regional distributors, we finally got down to business in December. After a successful material test at the WIWA headquarters, a WIWA DOSYS XL was used to bond large areas of ship superstructures in the customer's company building from March 2021 until the end of the year. The dosing unit with a mixing ratio of 1:1, a pressure ratio of 40:1 and an output of 330 cm3 per cycle was supplied with a foot pedal and a static mixer mounted on the frame. The material it mixed - a water-resistant 2K PU-based structural adhesive - was then taken to the workstations, where it was applied with a spackle. Once the superstructures were in place, they were braced to cure. Depending on the temperature, this took up to 7 days.
